Strong women

Strong women

When I say those two words I am sure many names will come to your mind. Throughout the history and in our present times we can find many that qualify that title.

I have a simple question.

Do we like and adore strong women if they are up close? Like your daughter, your girlfriend, your spouse, your sister, your mother. Do we like and adore them for their strength, stubbornness, perseverance, and resilience?

The strength of a woman, many I have known personally and through reading, has come from pain and suffering they have endured during their lifetimes. They were not all born strong. Many have been pushed into situations and had no choice but to stand up and be strong. Strength is not being fearless. It is doing things even when fear is lurking in your heart. Being courageous enough to take a leap of faith.

As these women go through the furnace of life and being made into how they are as we see, they also acquire some traits that are not very pleasant or fit into socially defined ladylike. These are side effects - lack of better word - of the storms they have gone through. Many are not even aware of the traits that they have picked up along with becoming strong and independent.

Back to my question. We love the idea of a strong woman, who will stand up for what she believes in, fights injustice, speaks her mind. But do we like them, love them, as they are up close? Do we have patience and love for them to tell them about their rough edges and let them decide what to do with them?

Luv
